Cherokee Hills Golf Club

Designed by renowned architect Perry Maxwell in 1924, the course at Cherokee Hills Golf Club is steeped in rich Oklahoma history. Redesigned by Tripp Davis, it’s a true challenge for the most accomplished golfer, while inviting enough for the weekend player. Traverse tree-lined fairways, dramatic elevation changes, demanding bentgrass greens, natural rock outcroppings and babbling brooks.

Tournament Play

– Teams will be captained by 2nd & 3rd Place participants from the Southern Thrills Invitational tournament held each Spring. Players will be rated in categories based on skill level. Teams will be selected snake draft style by respective team captains.

– After teams have been selected, captains will arrange 4 pairings of their own team for Alternate Shot play.

– After 2-man pairings have been formed by each team, matchups for Alternate Shot & Individual Match Play will be selected.

FRONT 9: ALTERNATE SHOT MATCH PLAY

– 2-man pairings from each team will alternate shots until the ball is holed. Team in each group wins a hole for each hole in which they have bested their opponents. 2-man teams will decide equal number of tee shots (even holes & odd holes) from which each member of the 2-man team will hit.

– Each 2-man team that has won the most holes in their group on the Front 9, earns 1 point for their team. If the same number of holes have been won by each team, the match is halved.

BACK 9: INDIVIDUAL MATCH PLAY

– Groupings (each 2-man team) will compete against the same opponents on the back 9 as the front 9. Instead of alternating shots, each individual will play their own ball until it is holed. Each player wins a hole for each hole in which they have bested their opponent on opposite team within the group.

– Individual that has won the most holes in their Match on the Back 9, earns 1 point for their team. If the same number of holes have been won by each player, the match is halved.

– In total, there will be 4 points to be won on the front 9, and 8 points to be won on the back 9. This totals 12 points on the tournament and 6.5 points will win your team the Southern Thrills Cup.
